Direct and Indirect
PengertianDirect Speech adalah sebuah kalimat langsung yagn dikatakan oleh seseorang, sedangkan Indirect Speech adalah kalimat tidak langsung dimana seseorang menyatakan suatu pesan dari orang pertama ke orang ketiga. Denga kata lain, kalimat Direct lebih sering dikenal dengan sebutan kalimat aktif dan kalimat Indirect dikenal dengan kalimat pasif.
1. Jim said, “Iam sleepy”. Jim said (that) “He was sleepy”
2. Sally said, “I don’t like chocolate”. Sally said (that) “She didn’t like
chocolate”
3. Marry said, “I am planning to take a trip”. Marry said (that) “She was
planning to take a trip”
4. Tom said, “I have already eaten lunch”. Tom said (that) “He had already
eaten lunch”
5. Kate said, “I called my doctor”. Kate said (that) “She had called my
doctor”
6. Mr. Rice said, “I’m going to go to chicago”. Mr. Rice said (that) “He
was going to go to chicago”
7. Eric said, “I will come to the meeting”. Eric said (that) “He
would come to the meeting”
8. Jean said, “I can’t affrod to buy a new car”. Jean said (that) “She
couldn’t affrod to buy a new car”
9. Jessica said, “I may go to the library”. Jessica said (that) “She might
go to the library”

(that) “He had to finish my work”
11. Ms. Young said, “I must talk to proffesor reed”. Ms. Young said (that)
